For further reading/study – see the following WW2 Germans (specifically Becker and Alkett), 1960s-1979 Rhodesia (getting this book from the author was a story in and of itself) 1990s Croatians, 1948 Israelis, 1980s El Salvadorian, 1980s Lebanese militias, the Infamous Killdozer, and Mexican Drug Cartels.
